40,000 people throughout Ireland access Carmichael Centre services and supports annually.
Carmichael Centre Community Employment Project aims to provide work experience and training to 34 participants through a wide variety of work for the Centre and small voluntary and community organisations.
The Centre has been involved with Community Employment since its inception, and our Projects have been successful in helping participants back into the workforce (most directly with organisations with which they have been placed) and in providing assistance to voluntary and community groups. Community Employment fits well with the ethos of the Centre, which is one of inclusiveness and mutual self-help. Community Employment brings the Centre closer to the local community through the participation of local people in the work of the Centre and through participants on local Projects taking part in training at the Centre.
Many of the skills which will be acquired by a CE Participant in their time on the scheme are required for employment in the commercial world. Other skills are appropriate to work in the voluntary and community sector, enabling participants to make a greater contribution to society.
